Foundry Pig Iron
Foundry pig iron, also known as cast iron pig, is a key raw material in the foundry industry, produced by smelting iron ore in a blast furnace. It primarily consists of iron (Fe), with significant amounts of carbon (C, typically 3.5-4.5%) and silicon (Si, 1.0-3.0%). Smaller quantities of manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), and other trace elements are also present. Its unique chemical composition gives it excellent casting properties, making it ideal for producing various castings.
